Mapping Services: Photogrammetric Elevation Models
Spectrum Mapping's extensive photogrammetric equipment and experienced professionals
make Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and Digital Terrain Model (DTM) collection a snap
for customers seeking three-dimensional data.
The DEM/DTM provides a framework of accurately mapped points for analysis of
elevation changes and modeling of ‘z’ data. A DEM/DTM is accurately collected elevation
data used for contour development, terrain modeling and analysis. Spectrum collects
data with a host of systems and software, we then process, translate, convert, plot
and deliver our data to suit whatever application or format our client’s desire.
A DEM is a series of elevation points usually collected on a grid system. A DTM is
collected using a much more extensive layout including masspoints and a series of sharp,
hard and soft breaklines, which are collected along all changes in elevation such as
top and bottoms of hills, streams, ditches, and embankments. The DTM is much more accurate
and should be used to generate contours.
Spectrum’s professionals determine the best approach for developing either elevation
and/or terrain data. When we develop DEMs and DTMs, you’ll always be assured the most
accurate technique, advanced equipment and skilled professionals are working for you.
